Ear Infections to Antibiotics

So, your child gets an ear infection. You take him to the pediatrician and they give him an antibiotic, and you think he’s good. Then he gets another ear infection. You take him back to the pediatrician to get another antibiotic. You think he’s good now. Yet, it happens again and this time they start pushing tube surgery where they essentially poke holes in their ears to get the ears draining. You’re not sure what else to do, so you follow through and get the tube surgery done – and now you think things will be good. Then you notice that he’s snoring a lot and you take him back to the pediatrician and learn that the tonsils and adenoids are swollen so they recommend taking them out. You’re hoping this will work. Then your child gets a little older and ends up with some sort of respiratory challenge like asthma. Well, you can’t remove his lungs, but he can use an inhaler for the rest of his life.

We don’t like being a “Debbie Downer”, but this is the same pattern we see so often!. A, leads to B, B leads to C. There is a cause-and-effect process here and it’s hard to stop going down this path without doing something different. Yet, at no point during this process did anyone stop to ask the question, why? Why is this child getting these recurring ear infections? Why can’t his ears drain? Why are his tonsils swollen? Why are his lungs, all of a sudden, overwhelmed? At Hanson Family Chiropractic we do ask these questions. And we answer them!
