The 3-minute Test That Should Be Performed in Every Doctor's Office

three young adult women, smiling togetherThere is a simple 3-minute test that should be performed in EVERY doctor’s office in America. It’s called Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and it has been proven to measure risk factors for 9 of the top 10 causes of death in the USA, including:

  • Heart disease
  • Cancer
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases)
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Diabetes
  • Influenza and pneumonia
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide)

Amazing! So how does it work? Heart rate variability or HRV is the variation in the time interval between heartbeats in milliseconds. A normal, healthy heart does not tick evenly like a metronome, but instead, when looking at the milliseconds between heartbeats, there is constant variation too subtle for us to be consciously aware of. This variation is a reflection of our nervous systems adapting to both our internal and external environment. And that’s what makes it such a valuable test.

Our nervous systems are in charge of every function happening in our bodies. Our immune system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, musculoskeletal system, etc. are all controlled and regulated by our nervous system. Yet somehow, very few doctors look at your nervous systems as a way to gauge our overall health. Except for chiropractors!

In our office, we do a Heart Rate Variability test on EVERY patient as part of their initial visit as well as throughout their lifetime of care. It is the single best tool we have to evaluate their health and vitality.

So ask your doctor to evaluate your HRV at your next visit. Or better yet, contact us to book an appointment with your friendly neighborhood chiropractor and we’ll do it for you!
